About Me

I'm me, I'm not a brand. I’m a father to two boys under the age of 5 and husband to A. Unlike brands and quite like real people, I’m ultimately flawed. ‘Where life is, hope is’. This blog is essentially about hope and survival… and me tying to make this a happier life for me and my family. It is just an honest and open account of life with depression and bipolar type II ,and the effort it takes to reach ‘happiness’. It’s about the journey, about getting to know bipolar and the man it inhabits. It's also talking about depression so that it isn't taboo, so that people don't stare and wonder what to say and get over their own awkwardness. It's about friends and family, how the are affected and how they support me. And it's about work, finding a way to provide for my family through the unpredictable up and down cycles.

I have always promised myself that what I write here will be open, honest and without censorship.

Whilst I write for myself, I share this blog with friends and strangers. With friends it makes understanding come easier, and my writing and their comments strengthen the fibres of our friendship. For strangers I hope that it helps us both realise that we are not alone, that the journey is long, complicated and rich. And if it helps us to talk some more, we needn’t be strangers.

If you are new to this blog, then it might be helpful to think of it as being a bit like a book, and start at the start, at the very first post.

  1. Hello. Thank you for visiting my blog. We both have Van Gogh at the top! I love the layout of your blog, and your writing.

We both write for ourselves, (great quote by Emily Dickinson), but to educate others.

It's nice to meet a fellow person of like mind. I look forward to reading more of you, and I am adding you to my blogroll.

  3. I only stumbled upon your site a couple of months ago and have been enjoying it a lot - but you haven't posted in a month and that worries me.
    Did I miss something?
Hope you are okay and will be posting again soon.

  4. Just maybe Med this is time for you and being in your own headspace which can be okay too. We all need that every now and then. Know that you are giving a very precious insight and courage to others who read your blog. Your honesty to be just as you are and to share this....well let's just say I think you're fantastic and I'm glad you're in the world. Hopefully that's not over-cheesey, it is just how I feel.
Thanks for doing what you do!

Comments are what make it interesting...sorry about the introduction of word verification but unfortunately this blog has been recently plagued by spambots.
